WHAT IS IDIOM?
IDIOM adalah simpulan bahasa ataupun suatu ungkapan yang boleh digunakan untuk menyampaikan suatu maksud secara berkias dan lebih menarik.

tak ramai orang yang tahu bahasa Inggeris atau English pun ada simpulan bahasa..di bawah ni aku kongsikan antara idioms yang nadia ingat melalui hasil bacaan daripada buku  buku judulnya  ENGLISH ITU MUDAH.WOW! MY ENGLISH.. 

examples of idioms :-

1)TURN YOUR BACK ON
 explanation : give up/abandon
maksudnya  : melemahkan semangat atau membebankan

example : I need your help but you just turned your back on me

1)     THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN

 explanation : another version of a story or event

maksudnya  : satu lagi cerita dalam versi yang lain

example : the global summit will encourage meaningful dialoge.on the other side of the coin , it might Result in violent protests

2)     DON’T GIVE UP THE DAY JOB

explanation : not very good at that , not doing it professionally

maksudnya  : tidak seberapa bagus/kurang mahir , tidak dapat melakukannya secara profesional

example : I like the way you sing but don’t give up your day job

3)     NOT CUT OUT FOR

explanation : not suitable for something

maksudnya  : tidak sesuai

example : He tried climbing but he simply was not cut out for

4)     WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFE

explanation : think more realistically

maksudnya  : berfikir dengan lebih waras

example : He does not respect you as much as you think.wake up and smell the coffe.

5)     A CASH COW

explanation : an easy way to earn money regularly

maksudnya  : satu cara mudah untuk mendapatkan duit secara kerap

example : income tax is a real cash cow for the government.

6)     A GREY AREA

explanation : something that is difficuly to define

maksudnya  : mengenal sesuatu yang sukar dijelaskan

example : I researched your case but there are not any black and white answers. Your situation seem to fall into a grey area

7)     UP IN ARMS

explanation : angry

maksudnya  : marah

example : the crpwd was agitated, everyone was up in arms over the government decision

8)     GET THE BALL ROLLING

explanation : start something

maksudnya  : mula melakukan sesuatu

example : We spent a lot of time planning this project, now it’s time to get the ball rolling

9)       SPILL THE BEANS

explanation : tell a secret

maksudnya  : memberitahu sesuatu rahsia

example : I won’t be the one to spill the beans

10)  FIT THE BILL

explanation : seems correct

maksudnya  : nampak seperti betul

example : That seems to fit the bill.I’ll take it

11)  OUT OF THE BLUE

explanation : unexpected

maksudnya  : sesuatu yang tidak dapat dijangkakan

example : A great idea just came to me out of the blue

12)  FLESH AND BLOOD

explanation : a relative

maksudnya  : saudara mara

example : I must help him because he’s my flesh and blood

13) ROCK THE BOAT

explanation : create problems for other people

maksudnya  : membuat masalah utuk ditanggung orang lain

example : Everyone likes Arsyad because he doesn’t rock the boat.
